Who is a Good Candidate for EMS?
Adults in good shape who desire more definition of their abs or lifting of the buttocks are ideal candidates for EMS. The treatment is well-suited for those who work out but can't seem to get a six-pack or a perky derriere. Good candidates are physically active and adhere to a healthy diet and lifestyle.
Who is a poor candidate for EMS? Are there contraindications?
Patients with significant fat stores may not be ideal candidates for EMS. The HIFEM (High-Intensity Focused Electro-Magnetic) energy used to power EMS penetrates to about 7 cm (2.76 inches). Those with thicker fat stores may not get as significant muscle contraction, resulting in fewer results following treatment.

STEP ONE: Your Free Consultation
First, you'll meet with one of our fabulous team members for a complimentary consultation to discuss what areas you are looking to target. We'll assess whether you're a candidate and develop a customized treatment plan.
STEP TWO: Your Treatment
When you arrive for your first treatment, you'll get comfortable in our treatment room. Then, your Clinician will place the CoolSlimming applicator on the area of "pinchable" fat you're trying to target. The fat bulge is drawn up into the applicator via a powerful vacuum suction, and controlled cooling within the applicator is activated. You'll feel the area getting cold for the first few minutes, but most patients find it normalizes for most of their experience. In less than an hour, your fat cells are tempered to a temperature cold enough to freeze and kill them. Finally, the applicators are removed, you'll get a two-minute massage on the treated area, and you'll be sent on your merry way!

A few weeks before your treatment:
Keep up a healthy lifestyle. You can improve your CoolSlimming results by eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly leading up to and following your treatment.
The day of your appointment:
Prepare something healthy. Eat a full, nutritious meal—and avoid caffeine—before your appointment. Unless we treat your chin, you can also eat and drink before or after your appointment, so feel free to bring some snacks but avoid eating inside the treatment room.
Dress to chill:
We recommend wearing comfortable, loose clothing and slip-on shoes.
Bring some entertainment:
We have a TV in the treatment room but feel free to bring your own form of entertainment, whether it’s your phone, tablet, or a book.
A Few More Things We Need to Know
Any changes to your medical history? New diagnosis? New pregnancy? New medications? Please let us know, as some medical conditions and medications are incompatible with cryolipolysis (fat freezing). It may be necessary to reschedule your appointment, as your health and safety are always our top priority.
What To Do After Your CoolSlimming Treatment?
You are one step closer to a more sculpted body. However, results vary, and the *best* results depend on you and whether you read, understand, and actually do everything on this list.
What you can expect in terms of results?
Within a few days following your treatment, your immune system will naturally and gradually begin to eliminate the injured fat cells. Some patients begin to notice results as early as four weeks, while most begin to notice them closer to eight weeks post-treatment. Your results will continue to show gradually over the next four months—the total amount of time it takes for up to 25% of the treated fat cells to be eliminated.

Post Treatment
Stay cool. There’s typically minimal recovery time with CoolSlimming. Still, we recommend you avoid high, direct heat and activities that cause strain or increase your body temperatures, such as heavy lifting or vigorous exercise 24 hours following your treatment.
For Discomfort or Swelling
You may experience a dull ache, an occasional “zinger” (nerve discomfort), cramping, tingling, numbness, swelling, or bloating in the treated area following your treatment, which can last up to four weeks. Here’s what you can do to help alleviate these side effects:
- Gently massage the area with Vaseline® or Aquaphor®
- Take over-the-counter ibuprofen as needed
- Starting one day after your treatment, apply ice packs or heating pads with barriers to the treated area, taking them on and off every three to five minutes for one to two hours
- Wear compression garments or comfortable clothing
For Itching
We recommend taking oral liquid Benadryl®, Allegra® or Claritin® (antihistamines available over-the-counter) as needed, as well as applying hydrocortisone 1% and Vaseline® or Aquaphor® to the affected area up to three times per day until it resolves.
For Bruising
Bruising can occur due to the strong suction on the applicators and usually resolves within three to seven days. Continue to avoid alcohol until resolved.
