What is Microchanneling?

Microchanneling is a type of skin resurfacing treatment that uses very fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin. This helps to stimulate collagen production and can improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars.

Microchanneling creates invisible micro-channels that produce a clinically significant increase in the production of new collagen and elastin through the release of peptides, growth factors, and cytokines, resulting in firmer, healthier skin. Even just one treatment has been shown to improve skin quality.

Microchanneling is the new and improved microneedling with fewer downsides. The first difference is that microchanneling uses a tapping method and microneedling uses the stroking or gliding method. This may not seem important, but the downside with microneedling is that it can cause additional drag on the skin and create microtears. The goal of activating collagen is not to cause trauma to the skin but to create tiny punctures that the healthy tissues around it can heal. If microneedling is not done correctly, it can cause scarring and damage to the skin instead of helping it.

Microchanneling techniques create uniform vertical microchannels. It achieves better results with a shorter recovery time than far more invasive & expensive procedures such as fractional lasers and deep chemical peels.

We offer three different types of Microchanneling treatments; Procell, Signature, and Radio Frequency Microchanneling.

ProCell Therapies provides the most effective microchanneling treatment on the market today. Its unique design creates clean, evenly distributed micro-perforations to induce maximum collagen production. The system creates hundreds of thousands to millions of microchannels in the skin, stimulating keratinocytes to message fibroblasts to enhance natural collagen production.

Microscopic perforations in the skin will also substantially increase the effects of topically applied serums since it allows deeper penetration of these serums. ProCell Therapies uses a potent growth factor serum derived from human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. These serums are quite effective on their own, but when combined with micro-channeling, they yield even more dramatic results. Micro-channeling can be used as a single form of treatment, or it can be combined with other therapies to enhance their effectiveness further.

If you are looking for a way to improve the look and health of your skin and keep yourself looking younger, Procell is an excellent option.

This microchanneling technique is designed by MayAllure. It uses a pen with clustered needles that are precisely administered to the skin using a "stamp" type pattern.

A single microchanneling treatment creates hundreds of thousands of microchannels. An inflammatory healing process begins in response to each micro-injury, which initiates new collagen formation. Over time, the repeated healing process improves the surface texture and the skin's overall appearance.

Microchanneling helps restore collagen and elastin and approaches skin defects deeper. It transforms both the dermis and epidermis by stimulating tissue repair mechanisms. To maximize results, we recommend four treatments (one every two weeks) to train the skin to build collagen and elastin. The treatments will improve fine lines, minimize enlarged pores, reduce acne scars/other scars, keep the skin hydrated and soft, and tighten the skin. Microchanneling can reverse some root causes of skin aging.

This microchanneling treatment has no downtime. You may experience some skin redness, but it usually disappears within hours.

You will be provided with a disposable mask to take home to soothe the skin and expedite the recovery process.

With age, skin can lose its elasticity, leading to wrinkles, lines, and sagging. Using targeted radio frequency (RF) energy to remodel and rebuild collagen, RFM can be used to treat skin concerns on the face and body, including the abdomen, legs, buttocks, arms, hands, jowls, chest, and neck. The resulting effect is plumper, firmer, tighter, and smoother skin in as few as 1 to 2 sessions.

In addition to skin tightening, postpartum abdominal laxity is another area that RFM can improve–similar to a “mommy make-over” without surgical downtime!

The main benefits of Morpheus8 include:

1. Increase collagen production

RFM introduces a new way to build collagen in the face. After age 20, the dermis layer produces 1% less collagen each year. RFM induces collagen production, resulting in firmer, fuller, and younger-looking skin.

2. Diminish fine lines and wrinkles

RFM can be used to improve aging around the eyes, mouth, and forehead. Following your treatment, you will see noticeably tighter, brighter, and smoother skin with fewer lines and wrinkles.

3. Lift and tighten loose skin

RFM can reduce sagging around your neck, chin, and jowls, similar to a facelift. It can also help remove excess fat from the arms, bra line, and other areas.

4. Minimize acne scarring

RFM can be an extremely effective treatment for acne. The treatment can shrink or shut down the oil glands under the skin, preventing excess skin oil production that leads to acne. It can also treat acne and acne scars that form after your acne has healed, reducing the appearance of acne scars by up to 50% and smoothing out the skin’s overall texture.

5. Fade stretch marks

Stretch marks affect many men and women and can form on the abdomen, buttocks, breasts, and thighs. RFM can help eliminate stretch marks by breaking up the scar and fibrous tissue, leading to firmer skin and better elasticity.

RFM Downtime

RFM treatment is a non-invasive procedure, so there is little need for downtime or recovery. Immediately after your treatment, you will look and feel like you have moderate sunburn, and your skin may feel warmer or tighter than usual. To aid the healing process, avoid exercising or strenuous activity for 24 hours post-treatment, and do not apply makeup until 48 hours after the procedure. Throughout this time, reapply sunscreen and avoid intentional or direct sunlight. You can resume work or normal activities directly following treatment.

RFM Post-Procedure Aftercare

Following your treatment, use a soothing cleanser or face wash with lukewarm water to wash your face and follow up with a gentle moisturizer or healing ointment. If you choose to go outside, apply a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen to protect your skin. Makeup can be applied two days following your treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@mayallure.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Microchanneling has several benefits, and your provider can customize your serum to:

• Smooth fine lines and wrinkles

• Reduce unwanted pigmentation

• Boost radiance

• Refine pore size

• Tighten skin

• Minimize acne scars and stretch marks

Pros

  • Microchanneling is a quick treatment that creates healthier skin and overall skin rejuvenation. Applying anti-aging products directly into the skin allows them to be absorbed much more effectively. It can address a wide range of concerns, including uneven skin tone (like sunspots), the appearance of fine lines, the appearance of wrinkles, enlarged pores, dullness, and scarring. "An ideal candidate for microchanneling is someone with signs of premature aging, sun damage, enlarged pores, mild to moderate wrinkles around the eyes, and acne scarring," says Dr. Green.
  • Once the skin is numbed, the treatment is painless.
  • Healing is fast, so downtime is minimal.
  • Even a single treatment a day or more before an important event will give wonderful results as new collagen production kicks in; the benefits will build over 6–8 weeks.
  • The treatment is versatile. It's primarily used on the face, but microchanneling can also be used on the hands, neck, decollétage, or anywhere else on the body.
  • Microchanneling is considered very safe in the hands of an experienced provider. You may experience slight redness or puffiness after rejuvenation treatment.

Cons

  • A series of treatments is recommended for best results, followed by regular maintenance sessions.
  • Microchanneling isn't a good option for people with active acne.

The terms are often used interchangeably, and both treatments involve piercing the skin with needles, but microchanneling and microcneedling are distinctly different treatments.

First of all, microchanneling is a gentler treatment than microneedling (aka collagen-induction therapy). Microchanneling is done manually at a fixed depth and only penetrates the epidermis, the top layer of the skin. Microneedling depth can be varied, and the mechanical nature results in a more aggressive treatment with more extended downtime—a few hours for microchanneling versus 2–3 days for microneedling. Microneedling goes in more profound and aggressive, so you'll be pretty red and beat up for longer.

Because the provider can customize the solution to the patient's needs, microchanneling allows a provider to be more creative than microneedling. It's also more of a surefire way to deliver what the skin needs and where it can best use it.

The needles used in microchanneling are tiny and fine (often thinner than a strand of human hair). To prevent discomfort, a numbing solution may be applied to the treatment area before the procedure. All you'll likely feel during the treatment is a little bit of pressure.

Please note that 98% of the patients we treated did not need topical anesthesia.

Your specialist will evaluate your skin-care needs and goals and create a personalized mix for your infusion serum.

Depending on what specific issue is being treated, microchanneling can infuse the skin to:

  • Bring intense hydration to the skin and make it look smooth, supple, and plump.
  • Reduce large pores, decrease sebum production and redness (for instance, from the skin condition rosacea), and provide gentle skin smoothing.
  • Reduce hyperpigmentation.
  • Improve your skin's texture and make it smoother and firmer using Peptides.
  • Stimulate cell turnover and collagen production with Stem cells and growth factors.
  • Prevent free-radical damage and brighten skin tone with antioxidants such as vitamins B, C, and E.
  • Increase hydration and give the skin plumpness and a dewy quality with Hyaluronic Acid serum.

- Your skin will be cleansed and sterilized.

- Your technician will "stamp" it into the skin; the serum will be applied immediately after a treatment area is stamped.

- A single pass will be made over the entire face in an overlapping pattern so that every square inch of skin is treated; then, problem areas can be treated with additional passes.

- The microchanneling treatment—including numbing—should take around 30 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of face massage and cooling treatment to soothe the skin.

More caution should be practiced for people with Fitzpatrick skin types V and VI. The more pigmentation in your skin, the more prone you are to hyperpigmentation (PIH). More conservative treatment means that skin is treated with a single pass, and more gentle pressure is employed.

Microchanneling is well-tolerated and requires little to no downtime. Most people return to work right after the treatment.

Aftercare is minimal: you will likely be asked not to wash your face for four hours (to allow time for the serum to work) and then to wash your face gently. This allows any remnant serum on top of the skin to penetrate the dermis.

Avoid astringents or medically active products (skin irritants) like retinoids or vitamin C for 1–3 days post-procedure to avoid irritation. We recommend maintaining a "fresh face" (no makeup) for 24 hours after a micrchanneling session.

You may have a mild reaction that looks like a sunburn, but this usually lasts less than 24 hours. Moisturizers with ingredients like hyaluronic acid can further hydrate dry skin.

After your treatment, your provider may suggest a curated skin care regimen to maximize and prolong your results. Daily use of a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30+ will help maintain the benefits of microchanneling.

Your skin should appear and feel refreshed within 24 hours, but tone and texture will continue to improve.

Three to six microchanneling sessions spaced two weeks apart are often recommended for the best benefits. Largely, it depends on the severity of the condition being treated.

Continued ongoing treatments every three months or so can help maintain your results.
