Microblading

What is Microblading

Discover the art of microblading, a form of permanent makeup that involves depositing pigment into the skin's second layer to create natural-looking hair strokes in the eyebrows. Originating in Asia to assist cancer patients recovering from chemotherapy-induced hair loss, microblading has evolved into a beauty and practicality enhancement procedure.

Benefits of permanent makeup and microblading include:

  • Time-saving morning routines
  • Natural-looking brows and hairlines for those with conditions like alopecia or chemotherapy-related hair loss
  • Smudge-proof results, perfect for active individuals
  • Low maintenance and long-lasting effects (up to 2 years, with occasional color refreshes)
  • Stable pigment color over time
  • Precision eyebrow design
  • Cost-effective solution in the long run

Microblading is a safe procedure when performed by a certified professional. It is minimally invasive with little downtime, allowing you to enjoy your enhanced look confidently.

*Touch-Up/Perfecting Session

Achieving optimal results with permanent makeup involves a crucial two-step process: the initial procedure and the touch-up session. Following the initial application, the color will naturally fade as the skin undergoes the healing and peeling process within four weeks. The touch-up session is essential to address any irregularities and finalize the procedure, ensuring the best possible outcome. Completing the touch-up treatment is imperative to achieve long-lasting and flawless results.

Other Permanent Makeup

Lip Blush, Eyeliner, Hairline Microblading

Lip Blush

"Lip Blushing" is a modern technique for achieving full, youthful lips with long-lasting results. This procedure enhances the natural beauty of the lips by defining the vermillion border and adding color for a fresh, youthful look. Say goodbye to daily maintenance and hello to effortlessly beautiful lips every day.

Hairline Microblading

Hairline microblading is a technique used to create the appearance of fuller, more defined hairline by implanting pigment into the skin in a way that mimics natural hair follicles. This procedure can help to enhance the overall look of the hairline by filling in gaps, adding density, and creating a more symmetrical and balanced hairline.

Eyeliner (Classic or Shading/Smokey)

Eyeliner permanent makeup is a cosmetic tattooing procedure where pigment is implanted along the lash line to create the look of eyeliner. It provides a long-lasting solution for defined eyes without the need for daily application.

We provide two types of PMU eyeliner: classic and shaded/smokey, including options for winged and shaded looks.

Note: Rates are subject to change and are non-negotiable.

Permanent Makeup FAQ

Is it painful?

Pain sensitivity varies from person to person. We use an anesthetic/numbing cream before and during the procedure to ensure your comfort. While pain thresholds vary, we strive to make the experience as comfortable as possible for you.

How many sessions are needed, and how long does it last?

Typically, most clients require a minimum of two sessions spaced 4-8 weeks apart. Permanent makeup is a two-step process: the initial session establishes the foundation, symmetry, and balance for the face, while the Touch-Up or Perfecting Session refines the shape and adds more definition by incorporating additional hair strokes (for brows) and reinforcing any faded pigment.

On average, each appointment lasts about two to three hours. The design mapping phase may take longer than the actual procedure as we prioritize ensuring clients feel comfortable and unhurried. Clients are encouraged to take their time in choosing a shape and making any desired adjustments.

Note: If you have had a previous tattoo done by another provider, you must book a consultation for assessment.

What is the healing process like?

  • Immediately after your initial treatment, your fresh tattoo will look stunning, showing minimal redness and discomfort without any swelling.
  • From days 2 to 5, your brow tattoo will darken and become more prominent as the treated area forms slight scabs.
  • During days 1 to 4, applying the provided ointment to the area twice a day is crucial. Avoid getting your brows wet during showering or cleansing for the first four days.
  • By day 5, you can resume your normal brow care routine, cleansing and applying makeup.
  • Between weeks 2 and 4, some hair strokes may appear to have faded. This is a natural part of the healing process, and the strokes typically reappear by the fourth week after treatment.

What factors can impact my new permanent makeup?

Several factors can influence the outcome of your treatment, including sun exposure, natural skin cell turnover, skin type, skincare products, and excessive bleeding during the procedure.

Increased bleeding during the procedure can lead to poor pigment retention as the pigment is pushed out of the skin. To prevent this, it is important to avoid alcohol 48 hours before your treatment and inform us if you are taking blood thinners.

Over time, your new brow tattoo will naturally fade and shrink. To maintain its fresh appearance, yearly touch-ups (which we call "Annual Color Refresh") are recommended.

What is the duration of the results?

The longevity of permanent makeup typically ranges from 1 to 3 years, varying based on factors such as skin type, lifestyle, age, and ethnicity. Additionally, factors like aftercare can significantly impact how well the pigment is retained in the skin. We suggest clients schedule an annual color refresh to maintain the shape, ensuring it remains vibrant and defined. It is common for most clients to return for a touch-up within 18 to 24 months.

Can you alter or correct the shape of my eyebrows with permanent makeup?

The ability to change or adjust your eyebrow shape depends on your current natural brow shape and fullness. Microblading aims to create natural-looking eyebrows while preserving as much of your brow hair as possible. Hair removal would only be considered to modify the shape of your natural brow line.

Can you fill specific areas, create an arch, or achieve symmetry in my brows?

We can tailor your eyebrow treatment to your preferences. Your desired outcomes will be addressed during the consultation. Additionally, we will suggest enhancements in shape and thickness and carefully measure your brows to achieve symmetry.

What about eyebrow color?

We will carefully match the pigment to the shade of your existing eyebrows to achieve the most natural look. Typically, selecting a pigment that is two shades darker than your desired outcome is recommended, considering that the color will lighten as it heals. Additionally, we take into consideration the natural undertones of your skin. Following Color Theory, individuals with red undertones may require a pigment with a green base to prevent a pink hue over time. Conversely, those with olive or dark skin tones may benefit from a pigment with orange undertones to avoid a blueish tint. This can be a complex concept to understand, but during the consultation, we will clarify our color selection and the reasoning behind it.

I may find a lower price elsewhere; why should I choose your service?

When it comes to your face, there can be no compromises. This is an investment in yourself, and you deserve the best. With our service, you can expect a top-tier experience and exceptional results. All our permanent makeup treatments include aftercare products and detailed instructions to ensure your satisfaction and well-being.

NOTE:

Our priority is to uphold a sterile and safe environment for our clients.

We exclusively utilize single-use disposable needles and supplies.

Our pigments are non-toxic and free from artificial preservatives.

Rest assured, we are licensed body art professionals and certified in blood-borne pathogens safety.

Step-by-Step Procedure for Permanent Makeup

1.  CONSULTATION PROCESS

Before commencing any procedure, we conduct a comprehensive consultation session, considering it the pivotal aspect, constituting roughly 90% of the overall process. To facilitate this, clients are requested to fill out the Informed Consent, Consent for Permanent Makeup Procedure, and Confidential Medical Profile forms, which can be downloaded for your perusal. If necessary, please contact our clinic via text to obtain access to these forms.

During the consultation, clients are encouraged to share photos that inspire or do not align with their preferences, aiding us in determining and understanding their individual styles.

For sharing photos, please forward them to info@mayallure.com or via text at (279) 279-7221.

2.  SHAPING AND COLOR SELECTION

Eyebrows: Our artist meticulously measures all facial points using a ruler to achieve symmetry and precision. Subsequently, the technician utilizes the client's natural eyebrow hair and desired appearance to create a perfect eyebrow design. This design is initially sketched with a pencil to enable adjustments before the procedure begins.

Lips: Our artist will draw the lip lines within the vermillion borders to enhance your lips, aiming to create well-defined and fuller lips. This step allows for adjustments before the procedure starts.

Eyeliner: For eyeliner enhancement, our artist will draw the eyeliner and seek your approval to ensure you are satisfied with the look. This process also allows for adjustments before the procedure commences.

Upon the client's approval, a suitable color is chosen. Our technician will test various colors on the skin, taking into account the client's preferences.

3.  NUMBING PROCESS

We apply a topical numbing cream 20-30 minutes before the procedure to prioritize your comfort. The cream is carefully placed on the procedure areas.

4.  PROCEDURE EXECUTION

We proceed with the procedure following the client's approval of the drawn design. The artist prepares a sterile blade/needle for the procedure. Numbing agents are administered throughout the procedure to guarantee optimal comfort.

5.  FINAL REVEAL

Upon completing the procedure, we unveil our clients' freshly enhanced eyebrows/eyeliner/lips and inquire if any adjustments are desired before departure. Customer satisfaction is our priority, ensuring you leave our premises content and delighted.

We pride ourselves on customer satisfaction and always ensure you walk out the door happily.

IMPORTANT: Read Pre & Post Procedure Care Sheet

Procedure Care

PRE-PROCEDURE CARE

POST-PROCEDURE CARE

POST-PROCEDURE CARE

All permanent cosmetic procedures are multi-session processes. You must return for at least one perfecting visit before determining that your best microblading work is complete. Perfecting and touch-up visits are scheduled from four to eight-week intervals.

Be prepared for the color intensity of your procedure to be significantly larger, sharper, brighter, or darker than expected for the outcome. It will take time for this transition based on how quickly the outer layer of your skin exfoliates.

Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may swell slightly or redden, some clients feel it best not to make social plans for a day or two following any procedure. Wear your everyday makeup and bring your lip or brow pencils to the office on the day of the procedure.

Permanent makeup is not recommended for clients who have the following:

  1. Diabetes
  2. Viral Infections or disease
  3. Epilepsy
  4. Pacemaker
  5. Organ Transplant
  6. Skin conditions (sunburns, rashes, acne, etc.)
  7. Sick
  8. Botox in the past two weeks

Proper skin preparation for a microblading or tattooing procedure is critical to color retention. Results may vary according to skin type, lifestyle, and other external factors. Carefully follow each step below for the best results:

-14 Days-

Discontinue Retin-A and Glycolic Acids.

Avoid injectables like Botox and Dysport or fillers like Juvederm and Restylane.

-7 Days-

Do not tan.

Discontinue blood thinning products unless prescribed by a doctor (Ex: Aspirin, Vitamin A, Vitamin E).

-5 Days-

Discontinue electrolysis.

-2 Days-

Do not groom brow hair by waxing, tweezing, or threading.

-1 Day-

Avoid caffeine (coffee, tea, soda, diet pills, etc.)

Avoid alcohol.

-Day of Procedure-

Refrain from vigorous exercise.

POST-PROCEDURE CARE

POST-PROCEDURE CARE

POST-PROCEDURE CARE

After undergoing a Permanent Makeup (PMU) or cosmetic tattoo procedure, it is essential to maintain cleanliness and avoid excessive stress on the healing area. Proper care plays a crucial role in color retention. Follow the steps outlined below diligently to ensure optimal results.

Post-Procedure Expectations:

  • Slight swelling
  • Thickness and/or redness lasting approximately 2-3 days
  • Scabbing persisting for about 7-10 days
  • Temporary color darkening (due to scabbing) for approximately 1-2 weeks
  • Mild itchiness for sensitive skin
  • Discoloration or light spots will be addressed during the touch-up session.
  • Scabs will naturally shed off like dandruff. Avoid picking at them.
  • An annual color boost is recommended to maintain the shape and color freshness.
  • If the skin develops a rash, it may react to the numbing solution and typically resolves within two weeks.

After the Procedure:

Within the First 48 Hours post-procedure, scabs will naturally develop to shield the skin during this initial healing period.

Day of the Procedure:

- Following the procedure, gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid.

- Repeat this every 5 minutes until oozing ceases to prevent lymphatic fluids from hardening.

- On your journey back home, delicately blot the area with gauze and distilled water provided. Proceed with the remaining healing instructions.

Days 1-7:

- Daily washing is essential to eliminate bacteria, product build-up, oils, and dead skin. (Note: Washing will not remove the pigment.)

- Clean the area each morning and night using water, a mild soap, or an unscented cleanser such as Dial Soap, Cetaphil, or baby shampoo. Use light pressure with your fingertips to cleanse the area.

- Massage the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse thoroughly with water to remove all soap residue.

- Pat dry gently with a clean tissue. Avoid cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA) or exfoliants.

- Apply a small amount of Aquaphor or healing ointment provided twice daily using a cotton swab. Spread the ointment thinly over the treated area.

- Avoid over-application to prevent skin suffocation and delay in healing. The product should be barely visible on the skin.

- Never apply the product on a wet or damp tattoo.

Key Instructions:

For Facial Tattoos:

- Use a fresh pillowcase specifically for facial tattoos.

- Refrain from facials, botox, chemical treatments, or microdermabrasion for four weeks.

- Avoid sleeping on your face during the initial ten days.

- Steer clear of face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first ten days.

- Abstain from applying topical makeup and sunscreen on the treated area.

- Prevent direct sun exposure or tanning for four weeks post-procedure. Wear a hat when outside.

- Allow any scabbing or dry skin to naturally exfoliate. Avoid picking to prevent scarring or color loss.

- Avoid intense, sweaty exercise for one week.

- Limit prolonged, hot showers during the first ten days.

- Refrain from rubbing, picking, or scratching the treated area.

Crucial Showering Guidelines:

- Keep your showers brief, aiming for a duration of 5 minutes to minimize steam production.

- Keep your face/procedure area away from direct water contact while washing your body when showering.

- For facial tattoos, allow your face to get wet only towards the end of the shower.

- Refrain from excessive rinsing and using hot water on the treated area.

Touch-Up and Color Refresh

Touch Up

Permanent makeup requires multiple sessions for optimal results, necessitating touch-ups.

Consider this process akin to applying a second coat of nail polish; while the first coat suffices, the second or third coat completes the look. The eyebrow touch-up session occurs 4-8 weeks following the initial procedure, while the lip blush touch-up is scheduled 8-12 weeks after the first session. During the touch-up session, we address any concerns you may have experienced during the healing process and fill in any areas where pigment retention may have faded.

Annual Color Refresh

Color refreshing is typically recommended every 12-24 months as the pigment naturally fades.

If another provider has performed your cosmetic/paramedical tattoo, please schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation for us to provide an accurate cost estimate for the work. The consultation can be done via Zoom call.

Note: For eyebrows PMU, we recommend a color refresh under 18 months to ensure the brow holds its shape and prevents color migration.

Sterilization & Sanitation

We take health seriously.  We uphold the highest safety standards and raise the bar on education and safety to benefit our clients, artists/technicians, and anyone who walks through our doors.

We believe that being a permanent makeup artist is a profession of care, and exceptional safety standards are required to perform our services.  With that in mind, we warrant that our studio is bloodborne pathogens certified according to state regulations.  We go above and beyond to ensure our studio is the safest and can be noticed as soon as you walk through our doors.

Tools and Supplies

We use 100% disposable tools, never to be reused on another client.

Hand Washing

We must wash hands for at least 20 seconds before/after procedures.

Cleansers and Disinfectants

We use medical-grade cleansers, barrier film, and an autoclave that keeps all bloodborne pathogens at bay to ensure the safety of our staff and clients.  Our needles are appropriately disposed of in an FDA-approved sharps container, never to be reused.  After each procedure, we must properly dispose of all tools and wipe down our station with medical-grade cleansers.  Anything we might have touched throughout the procedure must be wiped down with this medical-grade cleanser.  The new barrier film is replaced on any plastic tool to ensure no contamination occurs.  Anything made from metal (such as tweezers, scissors, etc.) is placed in barbicide and put into the autoclave to be sterilized.

Needles

We use only the best tools for our clients.  All devices are 100% disposable and have been pre-sterilized using EO Gas.  Each needle is individually packaged and has a unique lot number and sterilization date.  You can even download the sterilization certification using the needle’s lot number to ensure your needles are sterile.

Plastic

Plastic can not be sanitized; therefore, anything that is plastic used during our procedures is disposed of or wrapped in barrier film that is replaced after each procedure.  We cover our chairs and trays in plastic and replace them after each procedure.

Gloves

We are required to wear gloves throughout the entire procedure.  Whenever an artist removes her gloves, she is to wash her hands and put on a fresh pair of gloves; never use the same pair twice.  No artist can leave the procedure room with gloves on, even if they are clean.  No gloves mean hands are clean, making it safe to walk around our studio.

Drawing Tools

We use a black China marker to outline the brow design.  The pencil is pre-sterilized before touching a client’s face and is wrapped in barrier film.  After each procedure, artists must sharpen the pencil by shaving off any part that touched a client’s skin.  This prevents any cross-contamination.

Double Dipping

NEVER!  No one is allowed to ever double dip.  Artists must use a new disposable tool if they need more products.

We will never risk your health, meaning we are a little extra regarding sanitation and sterilization.
