Contraindication means something (such as a symptom or condition) that makes a particular treatment or procedure inadvisable. Contraindications of Microblading are:
If you have any of these contraindications, you must phone us for a personal consultation on (916) 272-6338.
What is Microblading?
Microblading, also known as Feather Stroke Tattoo, is a form of Cosmetic Tattooing. In this process, we implant tiny hair like strokes into the top layer of the Dermis of the skin, using a one use sterile hand tool. This is a semi – permanent process, as pigment is implanted on a superficial layer of the skin, which lasts up to 3 years, depending on your skin type.
Is Microblading suited everyone?
The short answer is no. Those with large pores and oily skin tend to be more challenging. For these skin types shading is a must. Pigment tends to not hold well or heal in a crisp manner with these types of skin. Also note that light, pale white, white and fair skin (Fitzpatrick skin types 1-2) have a higher chance of not being able to hold pigment well. A different technique may be more compatible with their skin type. At MayAllure we try microblading at client's first session and switch to powder or ombré at touch up, if necessary.
Does it hurt?
Everybody is different when it comes to sensitivity. We apply an anaesthetic/numbing cream prior to your procedure, and continue to keep your brows numb during your procedure to keep you comfortable. Pain thresholds differ from person to person; however, every effort is made to keep you as comfortable as possible.
How many treatments are required and long does it last?
For most clients, a minimum of two treatments are usually needed, at least 6-8 weeks apart.
Microblading is a 2-step process; your Initial Session is used to build the foundation of your brows, and create symmetry and balance to the face.
Your Touch-Up or Perfecting Session, is to perfect the brow shape, and add more substance to the brow. We do this by adding more hair strokes, and re-establishing any pigment that has not held.
If you have had previous tattoo work on your brows you must book in for a consultation for assessment.
On average, each appointment is about two to three hours. In most cases, mapping out the design takes longer than the actual process. We make sure clients don't feel rushed. We assure them that they can take as much time as they need to decide on a shape and make as many modifications as they see necessary.
What is the healing process?
Straight after your first treatment, your new tattoo will look amazing, with no swelling and minimal redness and discomfort.
On day 2 – 5 your brow tattoo will appear bolder and darker, as the area that was treated will slightly scab.
During day 1 – 4 you must apply the ointment that we provide to the area, morning and night, and when showering to protect the area from infection, and to quicken the healing process. This means you cannot wet your brows in the shower or when cleansing your face for the first 4 days.
On day 5 you can treat your brows as you would normally – cleansing, makeup etc.
During week 2 – 4 your brows may appear to have lost some hair strokes! This is normal, and just part of the healing process. These hair strokes re surface during the 4th week after treatment.
Check the healing process video here (courtesy of StarletSquad).
What will affect my new microbladed eyebrow?
Sun exposure, the regeneration of skin cells over time, skin type, the choice of color, and bleeding during the procedure will affect the final result of your treatment.
When the skin bleeds more during the procedure, pigment is pushed out of the skin, therefore retention is poor. To avoid this make sure you avoid alcohol 48 hours prior to treatment, and if you are on blood thinners to let us know prior to treatment.
Long term, your new brow tattoo will fade and shrink over time, therefore yearly touch ups are advised to keep your tattoo looking fresh.
How long does it last?
Permanent makeup will last anywhere from 1-3 years - depending on certain factors like skin type, age, and ethnicity. In addition, certain other variables like aftercare can seriously affect the staying power of the pigment in the skin. We recommend that clients come back yearly for a color boost to freshen it up and define the shape. This helps to keep it looking good as new.
Can you change or fix the shape of my eyebrows?
It depends on your natural brow shape and fullness as they exist now. The idea behind microblading is to give you a natural looking eyebrow. We want to keep as many of your existing eyebrows as possible. The only time we would shave or remove hair would be to change the shape of your natural brow line.
Can you just fill in certain spots, add arch or make my brows symmetrical?
We can fully customize exactly what you want for your eyebrows. Your requirements will be discussed during the consultation. We will also recommend improvements on shape, thickness and measure your brows to gain a symmetrical eyebrows.
What about color for my eyebrows?
We will match the color (pigment) to the color of your existing eyebrows. This is the best method in getting the most natural outcome. It is a rule of thumb to go two shades darker than the desired outcome as the color will fade as it heals. The natural tone of your skin is also taken into account. Based on Color Theory, people with red undertones need a pigment with a green base so that the pigment does not turn pink after 6 months. On the other end of the spectrum, people with natural olive or dark skin tone need a pigment with orange undertones so that the pigment does not turn blueish. This is a tricky concept to grasp. During consultation, we will explain and show you what pigment we are choosing and why.
Why does it fade during the healing process?
During the healing process, your may scratch your brows. Your body goes through a natural process of healing in order to generate new skin cell growth. With new skin cells, a new fresh layer of skin covers the wound. Using a pigment two shades darker allows for the new skin to heal and still result in the desired color once the skin is fully healed.
What is the differences between microblading, powder/ombré, and combo (microblading & shading)?
Microblading:
This the most natural form of permanent makeup. Microblading mimics fine hair which is why it looks so natural. This is perfect for those who want just a base for an everyday look with the option to enhance a dramatic look with makeup.
Powder/Ombré:
A makeup look that gives you the “Instagram brow”. This is a form of powder that replicates the look of your eyebrow pencil. Ombre has a gradient where it goes lighter at the center of the eyebrow and gradually gets darker towards the center and ends of the brow; while powder is the same color throughout the brow.
Combo (Microblading & Shading):
Combo brows give you the best of both worlds. You can have a natural look while having some shading throughout the brow. The center of the eyebrow is strokes and the rest of the brow is shaded to look like your eyebrow pencil.
Why do you have two pricing structures?
We know that people have different budgets, so we offer two tiers of service based on your specific needs. We broken down our pricing for individual* and complete package** pricing/services.
All microblading and permanent makeup is a multisession process, meaning, touch ups are necessary.
I can get cheaper price elsewhere, why should I use your service?

Microblading is a permanent makeup process of the implantation of pigment into the second layer of the skin, creating little hair strokes into the eyebrow. Microblading was originally founded in Asia for cancer patients who had gone through chemotherapy and lost a significant amount of eyebrow hair. These days microblading eyebrows and hairline is done to enhance beauty and practicality.

Permanent make-up is a 2-step process. Without it, the results will not be optimal. Color will fade significantly within 4 weeks as the skin heals, peels and fades. The touch up corrects any irregularities in the microbladed hair strokes/pmu/micropigmentation color tones and finishes the process. It is imperative to complete the touch up treatment.
Lip Blush, Eyeliner, Hairline Microblading
"Lip Blushing" is the newest technique for full, youthful lips that require no maintenance. Lip blush is a non-traditional take on lip tattooing, with an end result that the duo describes as more of a “full-lip enhancement, rather then a lip liner or full-lipstick look that brings color and youth to the lips.”

First of all, it’s important to note that permanent eyeliner isn’t really permanent (more. It’s just the term that the industry uses, and is more accurately semi-permanent. It’s considered permanent because the pigment will remain in the skin forever, but the longevity of the color and its visibility will eventually fade.
Note: Lash extensions need to be removed at least 5 days prior to eyeliner procedure. Contact lenses need to be removed during procedure.

1. CONSULTATION
We go through a thorough consultation before starting the microblading procedure. We believe the consultation is the most important part of the procedure and makes up about 90% of it.
We ask clients to complete some forms such as Informed Consent form, Consent to Application of Permanent Makeup Procedure, and Confidential Medical Profile. These forms are downloadable for you to review. Please text our clinic to be granted access.
During the consultation, we ask clients to show us any photos they like, don’t like and/or how they normally draw on their eyebrows to get an idea of the client’s unique style.
Please send photos of your current eyebrows areas to info@mayallure.com or text (916) 272-6338.
2. SHAPE AND COLOR (Eyebrows Only)
Our microblading technician will measure all the points of the client’s face with a ruler to ensure symmetry and precision. Once technician finds what she needs to make a perfect pair of eyebrows, she begins designing based on the client’s natural eyebrow hair and their desired look. This is all done with a pencil first to ensure that the shape can be adjusted, if needed, before the procedure starts.
Once client approves the shape drawn, a color is selected. Our technician will swatch colors on the forehead based on their natural eyebrow color and the client’s preference.
3. NUMBING
We want to ensure your utmost comfort so we apply a topical numbing cream for 20-30 minutes before your procedure. We place it on the eyebrows and cover it with saran wrap to maximize the numbing process.
4. MICROBLADING PROCEDURE
Only after the client has approved the shape and/or color and the numbing is completed, then we proceed with the microblading procedure. The technician will open a sterile blade/needle in front of the client and start the microblading procedure. Pigment is then implanted into the skin in a form of hair strokes to give it the illusion of real fine hair. Numbing is applied throughout the procedure to ensure the utmost comfort.
5. REVEAL
Once the microblading procedure is complete we show our client their new beautiful set of eyebrows and ask the client if they would like to make any adjustments before they leave.
We pride ourselves on customer satisfaction so we always make sure you walk out the door happy.
Microblading is best after 2 sessions (initial and 1st touch-up), usually 6-8 weeks apart.
It is imperative you complete the touch-up treatment. Without it, the results will not be optimal. Color will fade significantly within 4 weeks as the skin heals, peels and fades. The touch-up corrects any irregularities in the microbladed hair strokes, color tones, and finishes the process.
During the healing process after the microblading procedure your brows will lose about 50% of the color. They will also shrink by about 20%. Many time clients are too scared to go too dark with the pigment and end up losing most of the color by the end of the four weeks. Also, many clients are afraid of going too thick and bold. This is why touch-ups are required.
We can perfect your brows in any way necessary. You will not see the "final" result until four weeks after the touch-up.
All permanent cosmetics procedures require touch-ups 4-6 weeks after initial appointment/procedure.
All permanent cosmetic procedures are multi-session processes. You are required to come back for at least one perfecting visit before it can be determined that your best microblading work is complete. Perfecting and touch-up visits are scheduled from six to eight week intervals.
Be prepared for the color intensity of your procedure to be significantly larger, sharper, brighter or darker than what is expected for the final outcome. It will take time for this transition, based on how quickly the outer layer of your skin exfoliates.
While these injected tones may initially simulate the exact color and tone desired, it will not always remain a perfect match. Injected tones are constant, while your own skin tones will vary depending on exposure to cold, heat, sun, and circulatory changes. For example, if you tan your skin and had a scar camouflaged, your surrounding skin will be darker in appearance than the treated area.
Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may swell slightly or redden, some clients feel it best not to make any social plans for a day or two following any procedure. Wear your normal makeup and bring your lip or brow pencils to the office on the day of the procedure.
Permanent makeup is not recommended for clients who have the following:
Proper preparation of your skin for a microblading or tattooing procedure is a critical factor in color retention. Results may vary according to skin type, lifestyle and other external factors. Carefully follow each step below for the best results:

Avoid injectables such as Botox, Dysport, even with fillers, like Juvederm and Restylane.
-7 Days-
Do not tan.
Discontinue use of blood thinning products, unless prescribed by a doctor (Ex: Aspirin, Vitamin A, Vitamin E).
-5 Days-
Discontinue electrolysis.
-2 Days-
Do not groom brow hair by waxing, tweezing or threading.
-1 Day-
Avoid caffeine (coffee, tea, soda, diet pills, etc.)

Permanent Makeup (PMU) or cosmetic tattoo and microblading creates a wound to the skin, so you need to treat it like a wound and keep it clean and prevent excessive stress to the healing area. Proper care after a microblading or tattooing procedure is a critical factor in color retention. Follow each step below carefully to ensure the best results.
What to Expect After Procedure
Immediately Following Procedure
I love a good acronym so here’s one to help you out, just think of A - W - M which stands for Absorb, Wash, and Moisturize!
In the first 48 HOURS after the procedure, scabs will naturally form on the brows or hairlines to protect the skin during this time.
Absorb (Day of)
Wash (Days 1-7)
Moisturize and hydrate (Days 1-7)
Important Reminder
Important Instructions for Showering
All microblading and permanent makeup is a multisession process, meaning, touch ups are necessary.
Think of this as the second coat of nail polish, the first one is alright, but the second or third one seals the deal. This session is done 6-8 weeks after the initial procedure. At this session, our client and artist will go over any concerns they may have had during the healing, fill in any areas that may have faded or simply go thicker or darker than the first time!
We go conservative on the first session to ensure the client is satisfied so adding on the touch up is a piece of cake! Again, procedure steps are followed on the touch up and make sure the client leaves satisfied.
Non-Refundable consultation fee is required when booking this service which goes towards the final cost.
Please consult with technician for pricing if prior microblading or tattoo work is present.
Price depends on level of work needed. It is recommended to do this under 18 months to ensure the brow holds its shape.
We take health seriously. We uphold the highest safety standards and raise the bar on education and safety to benefit our clients, artists/technicians, and anyone who walks through our doors.
We believe that being a microblading/permanent makeup artist is a profession of care and there are unique safety standards required in order to perform our services. With that in mind, we warrant that our studio is blood borne pathogens certified according to state regulations. We go above and beyond to make sure our studio is the safest it can be and can be noticed as soon as you walk through our doors.
Tools and Supplies
We use 100% disposable tools, never to be reused on another client.
Hand Washing
We are required to wash hands for at least 20 seconds before/after procedures.
Cleansers and Disinfectants
We use medical grade cleansers, barrier film and autoclave that keeps all bloodborne pathogens at bay to ensure the safety of our staff and clients. Our needles are properly disposed in an FDA approved sharps container, never to be reused. After each procedure, we are required to properly dispose all tools and wipe down our station with medical grade cleansers. Anything we might have touched throughout the procedure must be wiped down with this medical grade cleanser. New barrier film is replaced on any tool made out of plastic to make sure no contamination occurs. Anything made from metal (such as tweezers, scissors, etc…) are placed in barbicide and put into the autoclave to be sterilized.
Needles
We use only the best tools on our clients. The Harmony microblade by Tina Davies is our most trusted microblade on the market. All Harmony microblades are 100% disposable, and have been pre sterilized using EO Gas. Each needle is individually packaged and has a unique lot number and sterilization date. You can even download the certification of sterilization using the needle’s lot number to ensure your needles are in fact sterile.
Plastic
Plastic can not be sanitized, therefore anything that is plastic used during our procedures is disposed or wrapped in barrier film that is replaced after each procedure. We cover our chairs and trays in plastic and replace them after each procedure.
Gloves
We are required to wear gloves throughout the entire procedure. Any time an artist removes her gloves, she is to wash her hands, and put on a fresh pair of gloves, never use the same pair twice. No artist is allowed to leave the procedure room with gloves on, even if they are clean. No gloves means hands are clean, making it safe to walk around our studio.
Drawing Tools
We use a black China marker to outline the brow design. The pencil is pre-sterilized before touching a client’s face and is wrapped in barrier film. After each procedure, artists are required to sharpen the pencil by shaving off any part that touched a client’s skin. This prevents any cross contamination.
Double Dipping
NEVER! No one is allowed to ever double dip. If an artist needs more product of any kind, they are required to use a new disposable tool.
We will never put your and our health at risk, meaning we are a little extra when it comes to sanitation and sterilization.
